Follow the Map Lesson Plan

After reading the book, go back to each scene were Frieda sees something scary and study the details of the scene, then go to the map of Gloria and Frieda's walk in the front of the book and see if the children can locate the place on the map. Try to follow Gloria and Frieda's progress across the various parts of the map.

To make it easier for the students to follow, you can photocopy the map on the next page and give one to each student. Students can trace the path Gloria and Frieda follow on their own copies.

Extra credit: Can you find pictures of Gloria and Frieda hidden in the map? (Clue: They're pretty big, and one of them is upside-down. )
